Mixed forest with open habitat. Slope to 10 percent, soil clay loam; south to south-west orientation, in full sun. Associated plants: Quercus kelloggii, Q. chrysolepis, Collinsia heterophylla, Cryptantha, Rumex salicifolius, Abies concolor, Pseudotsuga macrocarpa, and Arctostaphylos.
Flowering
Annual herb to 30 cm tall. Corolla light orange, pollen blue.
