Description: Local cespitose perennial herb with dark green stems; n=22 during meiosis of microgametogenesis, bud taken 2007 from individual cultivated in garden at Chino Valley, Arizona; flowers photographed and collected (8) from same individual, 5 May 2007; antrorse barbs on spines of pericarpel distinct; bud photographed 1 April 2010.
